Modernisme: the beauties of Barcelona
Take a leisurely stroll in what is a real open-air museum in the Eixample District, an area which showcases Barcelona’s Modernist artistic movement at the turn of the 20th century in which every building was considered a piece of global art.
We will admire its remarkable buildings by modernist architects, such as Puig I Cadafalch or Domènech Muntaner.
We will also spot many beautifully forged dragons hidden in lamps, balconies, facades and understand why there are so many of them.
We will finish visiting Sant Pau Hospital, a Modernist masterpiece by Lluis Domenech Montaner, one of Gaudi’s teachers. The architect thought that not only medicines were important to be cured in a hospital, but also smells (aromatherapy), colors (chromotherapy) and sun (heliotherapy).
The result is a must-to-see Unesco’s site since 1997
