Priorat is a small region 2h drive from Barcelona and 1 from Tarragona. It was the Carthusian monks of Scala Dei who introduced viticulture in the region in the 12th century. The quality and particularity of its wines is due to the orography that requires cultivation on terraces and, above all, to the type of soil: llicorella, which gives the characteristic mineral character to the wines.
