In late 19th century many modernist artists were settled in Sitges, very important to give Sitges its bohemian, artistic and liberal atmosphere was Santiago Rusiñol, co-founder of  the cafe «Els 4 Gats» in Barcelona, and in charge of attracting many avant-garde artists to the town.
